Happy New Year friends! I cannot believe it is 2020! Our New Year's was absolutely fabulous. We spent the week in Florida ringing in the new decade by eating junk, drinking lots of Kim Crawford and relaxing poolside with my family. I mean, does it get any better than that? Now that we are back home, I am so excited for the year ahead. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I set a few small monthly goals for myself (eat more veggies, drink more water, etc). I decided to start small, check the box and continue to set personal goals each month. I mean, it is a NEW decade-- don't want to fail right out the gate by setting goals that won't happen... like giving up wine or pizza for that matter... let's be real here!

Now that it is officially January, I thought it would be fun to start focusing on the next upcoming Holiday- Valentine's Day! This year for Valentine's Day, Jared and I will be hitting the slopes for a weekend of skiing, relaxing in the chalet and enjoying the beautiful views of Lutsen. I haven't skied in years and last time I did, I found myself walking my skis down a black mountain to avoid the huge moguls that were in my way... but I am so excited for our little getaway... even if it means not leaving the bunny hill!
Now, whether you are making reservations at the hottest restaurant in town or staying in, I have got you covered on your Valentine's Day attire! In the past, Jared and I have always taken a more casual approach for Cupid's special day. When we were in college, we would hit up the local diner and head to the movie theater for a bucket of popcorn and extra butter. After graduating, I decided it would be fun to make a special dinner. So, after spending endless hours of searching Pinterest for the perfect Lobster Carbonara recipe, I made the most perfect romantic meal for 2.... but, let's just say, we will never be eating in for Valentine's Day again. The al dente noodles were a little too al dente. The baguette started on fire in the oven. And, we ended up having ice cream for dinner...So, as you can see, I am a little biased when it comes to going out on Valentine's Day!
Night Out
Alright, if you are from Minnesota and are looking for a romantic night on the town, I would recommend a steak dinner at Giannis in Wayzata, sitting fireside at WA Frost Company or grabbing a window table at Nicollett Island. All three of these restaurants are so cozy and would be perfect for the special day. Now, if you are heading out for a special date night, it is going to require a special outfit.

Date Night In:
If your date night in consists of making a fancy dinner for your love or eating pizza while watching Hallmark (count me in), I have a few perfect outfit options for you! The first three sweaters would look so cute paired with a casual cropped semi-flared jean (see here) and maybe a red pump, if you're spicing up your date night-in. The next three sweatshirts are for my all cozy, all the time gals. Not gonna lie, this is me most of the time! Now, just because you are wearing a sweatshirt does not mean you can't dress it up! Pair these graphic sweatshirts with your favorite boyfriend jeans (here) or mom jeans (here) and maybe some Old Friend Footwear slippers (code Madeleine15 for 15% off).

No matter what your plans are for Valentine's Day, whether you are out with your special someone or doing a girl's night with a few bottles of wine, dressing up for the occasion is always a fun idea! I will be posting more outfits for the 14th throughout the month of January, so you can be ready for heart's day! Sending all my love to you all and thank you for following along this little blog of mine. XO.
